Because this decision was made early, shading became part of the architectural identity rather than an external structure added for comfort. Flow-through ventilation was also designed into every room, reducing reliance on mechanical cooling and reinforcing passive climate control strategies”, said John Fair, the visionary developer behind The Strand Turks & Caicos.

Celebrating 10 Years of Food For Thought: Nourishing Futures, Strengthening Communities

As Food For Thought marks its 10th anniversary, we proudly celebrate the incredible charity whose generosity and commitment have helped make this initiative a lasting success. For a decade, they have invested in the future of the Turks and Caicos Islands, helping ensure that children have access to the nutrition they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

Today, approximately 4,000 children attend public schools across the islands. Through the Breakfast Programme, nutritious meals are provided every school day to students in North Caicos, Middle Caicos, South Caicos, and Salt Cay, reaching approximately 380 children annually. The Food Bank Programme further supports students and families throughout the country, helping to address food insecurity and create opportunities for success.

As a proud donor and long-standing supporter of Food For Thought, we are honoured to be part of this journey. The impact of this programme extends far beyond meals—it supports education, wellbeing, dignity, and hope for future generations.

Elite High School: Striving against adversity

Elite High School is an exceptional institution that refuses to dwell on students’ backgrounds, legal status, economic situations and social standings. Since 2016, Elite High School has been making significant changes in the lives of hundreds of Haitian and Dominican children. Their motto, “Striving against adversity,” perfectly encapsulates this daily dedication as they aim to overcome all social barriers. 

Despite limited resources and minimal support from the local government, the principal, teachers and other faculty members are tirelessly working against all odds to provide each student with a platform for a quality education.

On the 5th of June, Richard Sankar, Broker and Director of Turks & Caicos Sotheby’s International Realty attended Elite High School’s annual career day. Richard, who spoke to the entire school was moved by the sheer radiant and optimism of the students.
