Stan Hartling is a recipient of the Turks and Caicos Islands Human Rights Commissionโ€™s Humanitarian Award for sterling service to humanity

Local resort and hospitality giant, Stan Hartling, who is also a prominent figure in the Caribbean’s hospitality industry, is set to receive an honor at the Caribbean Media Exchange (CMEx) Leadership Awards and Fundraiser on December 1, 2023, in Miami, Florida.

CMEx serves as a platform to recognize and celebrate individuals who have made significant contributions to the Caribbean tourism, hospitality, and communications sectors.

Stan Hartling is well-known as the head of the Hartling Group, which encompasses several notable properties, including the Shore Club, The Palms, and the Sands. He has achieved numerous accolades throughout his career, including the prestigious Humanitarian Award from the local Human Rights Commission, acknowledging his tireless dedication to serving the community.

Two Saturdayโ€™s ago, one of Hartlingโ€™s properties, The Palms, was transformed into sea of pink, with the hosting of the annual In The Pink Cancer Breast Cancer Awareness fundraising sale extravaganza. Later this year that same property is scheduled to host the TCI Red Cross signature event โ€“ Red Hot Fashion โ€“ a fundraising fashion show to raise well-needed funds for the Red Cross. That same property also hosted the last High School Career Symposium.

The 2023 CMEx honorees represent a diverse group of individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the Caribbean and beyond. Among them are media pioneers such as Julian Rogers, a Barbadian based in Jamaica, and Pat Montague, a Jamaican-American based in Florida. In addition to media practitioners, heads of prominent regional tourism institutions will also be recognized at this luncheon awards ceremony.

Notable figures like Nicola Madden-Greig, President of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association; Michele Paige, President of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association; and Dona Regis-Prosper, the first female Secretary-General & CEO of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) are among the esteemed honorees. The event will also include a live travel auction, with the proceeds dedicated to supporting tourism education and charitable causes within the Caribbean.

Other distinguished honorees include Rosa Harris, Director of Tourism of the Cayman Islands and Chairman of CTOโ€™s Board of Directors, and Joy Jibrilu, CEO of Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board, who is the first woman to serve in this role. Beverly Nicolson-Doty, formerly the CTO Chairman and Commissioner of the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism and now CEO of the Florida-based Figment Design advertising agency, will also be recognized.

The list of awardees also features pioneering hoteliers, including Ewald Biemans, Owner & CEO of Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort in Aruba, and Kevin Oโ€™Reggio, a Jamaican-American serving as the Strategic Account Director of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Inc.

CMEx is dedicated to strengthening the capacity of the media, government, the travel and tourism industry, and local communities to ensure that the Caribbean region and its people benefit from the essential tourism industry. Edward Gartland Youth Centre Hosts 6th Annual “Exclusive Evening of Art” Fundraiser

On January 25, 2020, the Edward Gartland Youth Centre in collaboration with The Shore Club, Gilleyโ€™s Enterprises, Turks and Caicos Sothebyโ€™s International Realty and Finishing Touch, hosted โ€˜An Exclusive Evening of Artโ€™. 

The sixth annual event was hosted for the third year, in the ballroom at the exclusive Shore Club Resort and featured a collection of art work from local and international artists with a special section for artwork by local youth. The all-inclusive event provided to guests a welcome drink cocktail, canapes and food stations, open bar, live entertainment by Sax Oโ€™Pans Serenade and a live and silent auction.

Thirty-three local and international artists exhibited in the show which included a wide range of different mediums of art from acrylic and oil paintings, photography, pencil portraits, ceramics, digital art and jewelry.

The live auction with auctioneer Todd Foss, of Grace Bay Car Rentals, was exciting and allowed guests the opportunity to outbid each other on selected donated pieces of art by the artists in the exhibition including works from renowned artist and Turks and Caicos native, Bradley Theodore, were all available for purchase.  Four amazing donated stays/excursions from the award-winning companies, Beach Enclave, Amanyara, Grace Bay Club and Prive were also featured in the Live auction.

The Pop-Up fashion show by the W.H.O. and Vdysh Collection, wowed the patrons with a stunning display of creativity and originality. A definite surprise highlight for this yearโ€™s event.

The evening did not end there! Guests were moved from the fabulous ballroom and into the stunning courtyard where DJ Dayoh kept the party going and attendees danced the rest of the night away.

TCI: Edward Gartland Youth Centre Art Show Fundraiser 2019 a Success!

#Providenciales, February 7, 2019 โ€“ Turks and Caicos โ€“ On January 2019, the Edward Gartland Youth Centre in collaboration with The Shore Club, Gilleyโ€™s Enterprises, Turks and Caicos Sothebyโ€™s International Realty and Finishing Touch, hosted โ€˜An Exclusive Evening of Artโ€™. The event was another success by organizers and those attending the event.

The fifth annual event was hosted for the second year, in the ballroom at the exclusive Shore Club Resort and featured a collection of art work from local and international artists with a special section for artwork by local youth. The all-inclusive event provided to guests a welcome drink cocktail, canapes and food stations, open bar, live entertainment by youth singer Erica Pinales and a live and silent auction.

Over twenty different local and international artists had their work exhibited in the show which included a wide range of different mediums of art from acrylic and oil paintings, photography, pencil portraits, ceramics, digital art, jewelry and woodwork.

Fine art consultant and visual artist Susie Cortez, with over twenty yearsโ€™ experience working in the field of art education was this yearโ€™s feature artist, and alongside displaying her works, she also created a masterpiece live on stage that was then sold in the live auction segment of the evening. Works from renowned Turks and Caicos native, Bradley Theodore were also available for purchase at the event.

The live auction with auctioneer Todd Foss, of Grace Bay Car Rentals, was fun and exciting, allowing guests the opportunity to outbid each other of specially selected donated pieces of art by the artists in the exhibition and two amazing donated stays from the award-winning resorts Beach Enclave and Sail Rock Resort.

Presentations for the purpose build Music Studio and Amphitheatre were unveiled and we were thrilled to receive a $5K pledge from Global Capital towards this exciting project.

The evening did not end there! Guests were moved from the fabulous ballroom and into the beautiful courtyard where DJ Viper of Lucid Illumination kept the party going and attendees danced the rest of the night away.

It is very gratifying to be involved in such a worthy event that benefits our youth and showcases our local talentโ€ commented Managing Director, Tanis Wake-Forbes.
