The Strand Turks and Caicos Resort Ready to Open This Fall 2024

The Strand Turks and Caicos is once again highlighted in the prestigious Caribbean Journal publication, as the resort prepares for its anticipated opening this fall.

The boutique property has already tapped a new general manager and hospitality manager — a husband-and-wife team. 

The Strand has named Frits Hannenberg its new general manager, with Jenny Hannenberg-Feig serving as hospitality manager. 

Hannenberg was most recently the managing director of The Abaco Club in South Abaco. His previous stops have included stints in Mustique, The Shore Club Turk sand Caicos and a resort in Mauritius. 

“We’re thrilled to welcome Frits and Jenny to The Strand’s opening team,” said John Fair, managing director of The Strand. “Not only are they a powerful hospitality duo and husband and wife team with unmatched expertise in ultra-luxury resorts on the island and throughout the region, but they bring a keen dedication to fostering a welcoming and personalized community for our guests and homeowners, which will further set The Strand apart upon opening this fall.”

TOURISM AND REAL ESTATE GROWTH CONTINUE THROUGH 2024

The Turks & Caicos Islands luxury lifestyle continues to top the charts in both real estate sales and tourism arrivals demonstrated by the successful TCREA MLS sales trends and the TCI Government arrivals statistics report noting that TCI welcomed more than 1.5 million visitors in 2023 representing a 21% increase. The TCI Tourist Board recently re-branded as ‘Experience Turks & Caicos’ and aims to diversify our tourism offerings to the outer islands to ensure a sustainable tourism revenue that benefits the entire population. In our real estate market, the first half of 2024 witnessed a very healthy sales volume throughout all sectors but by far the headline of the first half of this year is the resurgence of next gen luxury condominiums. With over $270M in pending deals in the condominium sector at an average price point of circa $2.5M, and building daily, the product mix is re-balancing towards a more equitable blend of condominiums and single family homes, of which the latter carried the market the prior decade. Based on overall pending transactions, that are predicted to close out in 2024, the year end numbers are poised to remain at this newly established sales volume.

The graphs in the pages of our report reveal the steady sales flow throughout the past four years whereby TCI real estate is experiencing a new level of performance along with a much higher average price proving that this rising star of the Caribbean delivers a quality, luxury lifestyle.

American Airlines to Launch First-Ever Direct Flight to South Caicos Island in Turks and Caicos

Out Island Luxury Awaits

American Airlines will introduce the first-ever direct flight from the U.S. to South Caicos, Turks and Caicos, starting February 15, 2025. The year-round route will operate twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from Miami using an Embraer 175 aircraft, accommodating 76 passengers, including 12 in first class.

“American has flown to Turks and Caicos for over 30 years, and we’re excited to offer nonstop service to South Caicos starting next February,” said Jason Reisinger, American’s managing director of global network planning.

Experience Turks and Caicos noted that the new flight will enhance the territory’s appeal as a multi-island destination. Flights from Miami to South Caicos start at $213.00.

Turks and Caicos, a British overseas territory in the Caribbean, comprises 40 islands and cays known for their turquoise waters, excellent scuba diving, and top-tier beaches. South Caicos, spanning 18 square miles, is a 90-minute ferry ride from Providenciales. High season runs from December to April, but the islands enjoy 350 days of sunshine annually.

Turks & Caicos Real Estate – The Summit Construction Update, June 2024

Positioned on the highest point in Providenciales, The Summit offers 180-degree ocean views over the North Shore. With vantage points ranging from 94 to 160 feet above sea level, the developers of Ridgeview and Karaya Blue, Latitude 22, continue to work diligently in this private residential enclave, in the much-loved Blue Mountain neighborhood.

Environmentally sustainable, the design includes not only 7.5kw of 20 roof mounted Solar Panels, Tesla Powerwall, and a living ‘green’ roofs. Jörg Breuning, the founder of Green Roof Technology, is leading the Living Roof project at The Summit. With 40 years of pioneering experience in the field, Mr. Breuning will ensure that the living roofs are meticulously designed to complement the unique climate and ecology of the Turks and Caicos region. The installation of the living roofs for Villas 4 and 5 is projected to be completed by the end of September, with landscaping scheduled to commence in November.

Construction Update:

Villas 4, 5, and 7 have been sold.

The millwork and tiling for Villa 5 are complete, and furniture installation is scheduled for August.

The first living roof installation on Villa 5 is estimated to begin in August or September, aligning with the villa’s substantial completion.

Villa 4 is nearing watertight, with doors and windows installed, and is on schedule for completion next January.

Villa 7 construction will commence next August.

Lots 1, 2 and 3 sitting at 94’ above sea level remain available.  Lot 6, the only single storey design at 110’ above sea level is available, as well as Lot 8 at 151’ above sea level.  Lot 9 is reserved.
