On December 3rd, 2024, the United Way Turks and Caicos hosted a heartwarming evening under the enchanting theme “Once Upon a Time.” The event brought together supporters, donors, volunteers, and the students who inspire the organization’s impactful charity work.

The celebration highlighted the transformative “Yes I Can Read” program, which has been a beacon of hope for countless primary school students in the public sector. This program plays a critical role in fostering grade-level reading skills, an essential foundation for mastering other important subjects like Math and Science.

Research shows that students who are not reading proficiently by the end of third grade face significant risks of falling behind academically, with many never fully catching up. The United Way’s mission is clear: ensure every child has the support they need to unlock their full reading potential.
